The purpose of this 7 week exchange program is to provide Belmont students with the opportunity to explore the French culture and to enhance French language acquisition skills. Additionally, the goal of the program is to enhance global awareness and knowledge, promote international education and the importance of languages. French is an integral part of our Canadian culture, and our French Immersion and French programs are seeing increasingly high numbers. Thus, promoting a relationship with another school in France strengthens our school community, our international community by increasing communication, developing long-lasting relationships, and highlighting the experiential component to education. The first group of students to participate in the exchange were a vibrant group of students ready to take on the challenge of living with another family in another culture. The group of 11 Belmont students were featured in the local newspaper in Sarreguemines as well as in the Gold Stream Gazette.
